The Virginia City Foundation
Preserving and Illuminating the Heritage of the Comstock
The Virginia City Foundation has a number of ongoing programs to accomplish its mission of preserving and illuminating the Heritage of the Comstock:
Preservation
The first task in accomplishing our mission is the preservation of the critical historical buildings, mines and other physical infrastructure of the Comstock and Virginia City. To this end, the Foundation works with those State of Nevada agencies responsible for supporting the Virginia City National Historical Landmark to identify properties and structures that are threatened and to develop preservation plans and funding to protect these essential artifacts of Comstock history.

Communication
Virginia City Foundation provides a focus for communications among the various interests in Virginia City, not only ensuring the issues and opportunities are clearly and accurately described for all, but providing a forum in which options can be developed, debated, refined and agreed upon. Our primary objective is to ensure actions taken in support of preservation are a “win/win” for the stakeholders and that the “big picture” goals of preservation are achieved.
Implementation
Where and when required, the Virginia City Foundation will take management responsibility for implementing preservation projects, to ensure that critical historic assets are preserved in a timely, efficient and historically accurate manner.
